Sooooo anyway, last wednesday all the diploma group visited Crosby beach, which is in Merseyside, I think? It isn't just a boring old beach 'coz its got 100 figures on it, and they're spread out all along the beach and looking out to sea. Some are actually in the sea, and some are further away. These are a piece of art by Antoney Gormley, and the piece is named 'Another place'. His pieces of work are quite effective. Having been to see Crosby beach with its statues, and also
researching his other projects for the scene and film units, i think his art work is somewhat eerie, and gives out the feeling of loneliness. It was fun - me and Charlotte practised using the proper video camera and eventually got the hang of it! :) We also took pictures, and we might use some of these photos and video shots in our films. We didn't have long to take pictures and to film, though, because the tide came in reallyyyy quick and we almost got trapped! We had to follow Mr Taylor who found a good way out , and then Katie and Beth were behind us and nearly sunk in all the sand : hahaa :)
Affter Crosby beach, we went to the sand dunes at Formby, because it was nearby and miss thought it was a good place to maybe shoot some of our film. The setting of the woods there was really spooky, as the trees and their branches were all blown in one direction due to the wind and sand. It definatley looked like a scene in a thriller! Once you were in the woods, it was even spookier and extremley quiet. When me, Charlotte, Alex and Liz sat down to eat in there, we were paranoid there was someone around there was that many trees! We filmed a bit, and then went over to the sand dunes, which weren't scary :) we didn't really film much there, but I think we got a few good pictures of the sea, and the view of the woods from up there.
Overall, I had a good time and can't wait for the next diploma trip !
